Motivation Monday- You Can Overcome Adversity

This experience of breaking my wrist proved to be a test of my mental fortitude. I was in great distress. The disbelief, anxiety, asking why, and the fear of falling again were my constant companions. The toll of the ordeal began to have a negative effect on me. It robbed me of my independence and that became a source of grief.

Not being able to use my hand freely and do the things I was accustomed to doing became a source of frustration. It bothered me that I could not drive, prepare my own meals, or shower properly and had to ask for help to get dressed. This was compounded by the fact that at one point my pace of recovery seemed to be very slow and I wondered if I would heal in the 6-12 weeks as the doctors had said.

I felt like I would be stuck in this condition for a very long time and that was not easy to deal with. I began to resent this situation as it was ‘mashing up my meds’ (creating a state of great mental distress) which was not to my liking.

Above is an excerpt from From Break to Breakthrough. Get your copy here and learn how I was able to overcome my adversity. You can overcome too!

Happy Motivation Monday to you!
