Gratitude Is a Must!
•
Hi friends, how have you been? It has been a while. Things have been hectic as I have a lot on my plate, but I am grateful for the opportunity to catch up with you all. Speaking of being grateful, how do you measure up on the gratitude scale? 1, 2, 5 or 1O?
What is Gratitude?
Gratitude is defined as the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.
This is something that we all need to think about seriously. The Word of God encourages is to give thanks in everything because it is His will for us (1 Thessalonians 5:18), but do we really live up to this instruction? Do we murmur and complain all the time? Are we selective in what we thank God for, while dismissing other things because they seem small and insignificant? God works through all the circumstances, whether big or small. To Him, there is no distinction.
Benefits of Gratitude
Practicing gratitude is a good, lifelong habit to develop. As our minds are being renewed by the Word, let us not forget to remember to always have an attitude of gratitude. It is worth your while. There are numerous benefits to be derived from being grateful. One is that it improves our physical and mental wellbeing, making us happier and nicer to be around…lol. With all the troubles in the world around us, it is tempting to always focus on the negatives and lose sight of all the blessings around us. We have to be intentional and deliberate as we count our blessings, naming them one by one.
As we celebrate International Women’s Day today, let us pause to honour and give thanks to the wonderful women that God has placed in our lives….our mothers, sisters, aunts, and female friends and relatives.
