Devotional – Abba Speaks My Love Language
•
I had made an appointment to see my insurance advisor at her office on Wednesday of this week. At the prompting of Holy Spirit, I called to find out if she was in office before starting on my journey. I was unable to reach her, so I decided to wait until I was sure that she was in the office before leaving. I sent her a message and then proceeded to carry out my work duties.
After about an hour, I still had not heard from her, so I called her again. This time she answered and advised me that she was not in office. The good news was that she would be passing my office in the afternoon, and as such, she would be able to pick up the documents and cash that I should have submitted to her.
I was so happy. I did not want to go out, and if I had done so, it would have been a wasted trip. Thank you Abba!
Need to make change
My issue now was to make change from $5000 so I could give her the required amount of cash. I had visited the ATM that morning and had received only large notes. I asked a coworker of mine who sells snacks, but she was unable to assist me. I decided then to either purchase an item at the supermarket across the road or visit another ATM which was close by. As I pondered my options, Holy Spirit again prompted me. This time He told me to ask my colleagues in my section if any of them could make some change. So, I asked the question, not expecting anyone to be able to assist. As soon as the words were out of my mouth, they all burst out laughing, saying that I had ‘big money” and asking me where I expected them to get money to make that kind of change. Disappointed, I reluctantly resolved in my mind that I would have to try one of the options I had considered earlier.
Change received
But then, to my relief, one colleague responded, “yes, I might be able to help you”. And sure enough, he was able to provide the change exactly how I needed it. He explained that he did not normally walk around with cash, much less that amount, but somehow, that day, he did. He said I was lucky, but I told him that on the contrary, I was not lucky, but blessed. This was no coincidence. It had been orchestrated by God.

Takeaways
Abba sees our needs before we do.
He knew beforehand what I would need that morning and went about getting the answers in place before I even knew I would have those needs. He made someone do something out of the ordinary so that my need could be met.
I was prompted by Holy Spirit twice that morning. I obeyed each time and reaped the rewards. I am so happy I did because my obedience caused me to be steered into the right direction on both occasions. There have been times in the past when I did not heed His prompts, to my detriment. I have learned to be obedient in that regard.
Abba’s love and care
Once again, Abba has demonstrated His love and care by speaking to me in one of my love languages –acts of service. He knew what I needed and ensured that he positioned someone to fulfil those needs, without me having to put out any extra effort.
That makes me feel loved. It is one more piece of evidence on this love journey on which God has been taking me for the past year. (Remember my testimony about seeing the number 26?. Seeing that number has become a daily occurrence, multiple times per day, a constant reminder of His love for me.) To some people, it may seem insignificant, but not to me. I have learned to see God in the little things of life. It’s the little things that matter. Little is much, when God is in it.
Shalom!
How has God shown His love for you? Let me know in the comments.
