Motivation Monday – The Power of Your Yes

Are you struggling to do what God has placed on your heart because you:

  • Are full of fear?
  • Are afraid of what others will say?
  • Feel like you are not good enough?
  • Think you are incapable?

My friend, none of that matters! If God has called you, He will equip you and qualify you. He will make provision for whatever you need. Your duty is to be obedient. Say yes. When you do, it opens the door to so many other things. There is no growth in your comfort zone, and so, you must be willing to take that all-important step of faith. You will have to be stretched in order to grow. As we say in Jamaica, if yuh want good, yuh nose haffi run (if you want to achieve something, then you must be prepared to make sacrifices along the way).

On Sunday, June 22, 2025, I visited Fellowship Tabernacle in Mandeville to promote my books Memorial Stones. Interestingly, this was my second visit, having previously visited on June 19, 2004. At that time, I was a member of the choir at Fellowship Tabernacle, Kingston and writing was the furthest thing from my mind. But in later years, I said yes to God’s directive to write a book, and that act of saying yes, opened numerous doors of opportunities that I never dreamed of, including coming full circle to be sharing at the same church 21 years later. It was another glorious opportunity to testify of God’s faithfulness in my life.

What has God called you to do? He is waiting for your yes. So, step out with courage and boldness. Disabuse yourself of the notion that things that are worth achieving will come with ease. Be prepared to fight tooth and nail for what you desire as long as it is in alignment with God’s will. Be willing to partner with God by doing your part. As the saying goes, it takes two to tango.

Take note of what He has put in your hands. Use your talents, time, gifts and abilities to please Him. They will make room for you and make you stand in front of kings as stated in Proverbs 18:16.

Will you heed the voice of God and step out today? Everything you need to accomplish for His glory is on the other side of fear, awaiting your powerful yes! You will not regret it.

It is said that the graveyard is the richest places on earth. Do not be numbered among those who have taken their unfulfilled dreams and desires – unwritten books, unwritten songs, undone projects, and the list goes on – to the grave. Die empty. Pour out everything that God has placed within you. Leave your legacy for the present generation and for those to come.

After twelve years of teaching in public school, I had to say yes to the Lord for full-time ministry. The journey has brought so many blessings. I do not regret a mile that I have traveled for the Lord.
