Testimony Tuesday – Danger Averted.
•
Early one morning, I went to the kitchen to cook, so I could take lunch to work that day. I tried to light the stove, but after two attempts, I gave up, concluding that the gas had run out. It seemed like it had run out a little earlier than normal, but I decided that I would just have to purchase a new cylinder. I normally turned the regulator off after cooking but his time it was left on and so I assumed the gas had leaked out, even though i did not smell anything. I simply proceeded to use my hot plate which was the backup plan when there is no gas.
Normally when the gas runs out, I would purchase the new cylinder the same day, but this time around, I decided to wait until the weekend, and in hindsight, I can see that it was a move of the Spirit.
On Saturday morning, I called the gas company and ordered a cylinder of gas. As I was about to disconnect the cylinder from the stove, I sensed the Spirit of the Lord instructing me to try again to see if there was gas. I thought it was a waste of time because I had tried twice before and came up empty. Nevertheless, at the word of the Lord, I tried a third time and lo and behold, to my surprise, the blue flame came on.
Shocked, and unable to believe my eyes, I turned the stove off and tried again, and yes, there was gas!
I quickly called the gas company and cancelled the order, happy that I did not have to spend that money, as I was already low on cash and payday was about another two weeks away.
As I reflected on what could have caused the stove not to light when I tried it that morning, I surmised that there could have possibly been a leak., which I hadn’t picked up because my sense of smell is sometimes off. It is quite possible that if the stove had been lit, there would have been an explosion and I would have been badly burnt, as has happened to other persons in the past.
Praise God for His hand of protection, saving me from dangers seen and unseen. It could have been a tragic situation, but He diverted the danger and, in the process, saved me from a crisis.
The gas eventually ran out about six weeks after. Again, I give thanks because purchasing a new cylinder at that time would have been a waste of money. It pays to be obedient to the still, small voice of God.
Continue to reflect on His goodness as you listen to this song.
To God be the glory!!!
